The buoyancy should be chosen according to the distance from the coast, the type of navigation and the marine weather conditions to be faced. This is, of course, subject to the mandatory provisions of any National Regulations. Subjective parameters should only be considered for the selection of device size, if any, and not in terms of buoyancy.
