To protect the buoyancy chamber and activation system, a highly resistant outer casing has been developed. This casing must be tightly closed around the entire perimeter but must open immediately as soon as the inflation system is activated. There are two types of closure – with double Velcro edging or with a special zip. The zip has two ‘break’ points (Burst System or Quick Release) – one at the beginning of the chain teeth, folded inside the case, the second near the activator. At these two strategic points, the teeth of the zip are visually missing and it is precisely these missing teeth that allow for the correct and immediate opening of the flotation system.
For transport by air, it is necessary to contact the airline and check their boarding policy.
The buoyancy should be chosen according to the distance from the coast, the type of navigation and the marine weather conditions to be faced. This is, of course, subject to the mandatory provisions of any National Regulations. Subjective parameters should only be considered for the selection of device size, if any, and not in terms of buoyancy.
Many of our jackets are customisable. Feel free to explore this option with our Customer Service Department.
Please refer to the National Regulations available on the website of the Coast Guard Harbourmaster’s Offices.
Class (50 – 100 – 150 – 275) is the factor to consider when choosing the device in accordance with the intended use and navigation, whilst the Buoyancy is the degree of floatation provided by the device.
It is a Ministry-approved device type.
To check the certification class, simply read the label on your jacket.
